The Sly Old Fox Once upon a time, there was a little old lady that went shopping. When she got back she got a ring from her granddaughter that she was coming over but the sly old fox overheard her and snuck inside then swallowed the little old lady whole. 

Then the fox disguised himself as the little old lady! When the little girl got there she was gulped up too! Then the woodchopper man and the coal miner man got there to drop off the coal and wood, when they knocked on the door there was no answer. So they went inside and lit the fire for her. 

 They were just about to leave when they heard a big, loud THUD!! It was from her room so they went to have a look. Then they found her lying in her bed. When they got outside the woodchopper man said: “Hay she’s got a big mouth”. 

 Then they ran inside and killed the fox, chopped him open and they got them out. When they left they had fox for dinner. When the little girl got home she told her parents what she had been through that day.

The Hole

Hi, my name is Matthew. I live with my brothers and my parents. My brothers' names are Cameron and Daniel. My parents' names are Rosslyn and Werner. My brothers and I love to go exploring in the woods.

One time while our parents were milking we were allowed to go exploring. One time we wandered off too far and got lost. It was getting dark and we were tired from all that walking. So we looked for a place to sleep.

We found a cave and stayed there for the night. In the morning it was frosty and cold so we decided to make a fire. I went and got some sticks and bark from the trees around us. I came back with some rocks too.

We lit the fire with rocks around it. I went to go and get some more sticks. Then suddenly I fell down a big and dark hole. I looked for a way up but there was no use so I walked around a bit. Then Daniel and Cameron fell down too. They said they were looking for me then they fell down too. We couldn't get out so we took a look down some other passages. Most of them were scary and some of them were not. We went to sleep inside one of the non-scary ones. 

My Nightmare

I had a nightmare. When we found our way out but when we got out everything was dead. When I mean everything I mean everything, including the plants! There were these giant monster dogs and real monsters. That’s the end of my nightmare. Now to Cameron’s nightmare. 

Cameron’s Nightmare

We found another passage leading somewhere. It led to a meadow of flowers, cakes and monsters. Wait, what! Monsters! When they saw us they started to growl and roar loudly and all the bees flew away and started to sting us to death. 

Daniel’s Dream

We found our way out of the cave and got home. Then we had a welcome home party and Daniel got most of the cake and we had a little bit of ice cream. In the morning Daniel was so grumpy he was in charge of the whole house and made us do all the work. He forced us to do all the housework.

The end Of Daniel’s Dream

In the morning we actually did get out of the cave and found our cowshed. Then we walked home and ate heaps of food. We ate half the food in the house. We had Oreos, ice cream, other food, and cake. We were so glad that we found our way home. We hugged our parents so hard that they said we were too strong.

So from that day onward, we swore that we would never go exploring in that forest again. We found another forest that was a little smaller and loved it even more than the other one. I’ll tell you about our ages. My age is 18, Daniel’s age is 20 and Cameron’s ages is 16. We wanted to stay the week in the forest and they said “yes” so we got all our supplies and gear.

Then we headed off to the middle of the forest and drank some water.(We brought no food so we hunted)Daniel went fishing, I climbed some trees to get some eggs and Cameron went hunting on the ground with his bow and arrows. We got enough food for the week but we were really hungry and ate most of it.

We lit a fire and set up camp. We were tired from all that walking and hunting so we went to bed early. I woke up first so I made breakfast and went on a small hunt. They woke up and ate breakfast and I came back with heaps of food.

It was a cold and frosty morning. We were all so cold and still very hungry. They wanted to but I knew we were going to stay the week and we have to stick to it. They still packed up their stuff and left me all alone in the forest. Then suddenly I fell down another hole and when I was going down I was like, come on another hole.

When I got to the bottom it looked exactly like the other one. Then I was like, am I in the same hole but it wasn't the same one. It was bigger than the other. If I was with my brothers what would I do. I thought to myself. I would walk around through the tunnels I did and find my way out. Packed up and went home.

I told my family that I found another big hole but this time it was bigger than the last one. I got a big cut down my upper arm and it got infected really, really fast. We went to the hospital and put a cast on it. I stayed a whole month until I was allowed home.

I had the cast on for four months. When they took the cast off the doctors said that I wasn’t allowed out in the bush for the entire year. One year later I was back in the bush with my family. We  came with only water, no food. My brothers and I were the hunters. While our parents were setting up camp and fire. We were catching the food, Cameron fell out of the tree.

We took him back to the camp while he was screaming him head off. Finally we got back to camp Mum and Dad first aid kit. Then me and Daniel put him down against the tree. We rushed him to the hospital and Mum stayed there with him.

We got back when it was dark and went straight to sleep. When we got up from sleeping Daniel and I went to get the food we caught and brought it back. We stayed a few nights longer, then we decided to pack up and go home.

The Water Cycle

The Water Cycle

I am explaining the Water Cycle. These are the four steps of the

Water Cycle. Did you know that water is never wasted because water

is recycled all the time. It comes from the sewers and you might even

be drinking water that dinosaurs drank.

Firstly it is Evaporation. Evaporation is water rising from the streams,

rivers, lakes, and oceans. The water cools and goes up. That's the

end of Evaporation.

Next is Condensation. Condensation is and cooling and turning into

clouds and forming back into bigger droplets and getting heavier

then begin to do something different. That is the end of Condensation.

Thirdly is Precipitation. Precipitation is water falling from the clouds

and makes puddles, streams, rivers, and lakes. Finally, it gets to the

ocean. Some times it is dirty and some times it is not. These are the

things that fall. Water, sleet, hail, and snow.

Lastly, it is Surface runoff. Surface runoff is water running across the

ground and making more streams and rivers. Then it just repeats its

self all over again.

These four stages are explaining the water cycle and remember what

I told you.

My friends and I were in class listening to Lauren and Michelle. Then Lauren showed us were looking where Duck Creek came from. Duck Creek came from a tarn that’s a small pond on a mountain.

First: The teachers sorted us in groups there were 4 groups. The teachers were Miss Hinchliff, Marion, Jane, Katrina. Lauren and Michelle gave us a kick net and plastic containers with the kick net. You kick in front of it, that’s why it’s a kick net. With the plastic containers you put in the water then you take it out of the water.

In summary, me and my friends went to Duck Creek, we didn’t just look in the water we looked in the water weeds too.

Did you know that poo and wee are nutrients for the grass and plants? We can plant trees, bushes, flax, grass and flowers.

You have to build a fence around the river’s or creek’s so animals and rubbish can’t get in. If you don’t have trees and plants and build a fence all the nasties get in the creek or river. The roots stop erosion from getting in the river.

In the Holidays

Last week I went salmon fishing for a moment. In the holidays I went to Matthew Bertin’s places on my motor- bike in the holidays.

In the holidays we went to Nelson and Takaka and Mochocka.In the holidays we bought new DVDs in the holidays. The DVDs were the Croods the Frog Kingdom and Matilda.

For the salmon fishing, we borrowed fishing rods for fishing. We caught 5 fish, 2 for Mum, 1 for me, nothing for Dad 1 for Daniel and 1 for Cameron.  

In Nelson, we stayed at a hotel for 2 nights in Nelson. At Mochowaka we stayed in a hotel for 1 night. We stayed in Takaka for 1 night in a hotel. We went to Matthew berton’s places and ride our motorbikes.

In Kaiteriteri we went on the flying fox me and Mum walked to little Kaiteriteri and there was an island and there were bushes around us and the sand was yellow.

On Tuesday morning the kea class planted a Banksia tree on the East side of the field. We planted it because we wanted to increase the birds we have at Kokatahi Kowhitirangi school.

First, Daniel coleked a broken wheelbarrow and Dominic coleked a  shovel and Miss Hinchliff coleked a Banksia tree. Dominic dug a hole for the 95 cm Banksia tree. Lukas put it on slow-mow I was going to take a photo but it was slow-mow I pressed the red button it was funny.

Then, we planted a Banksia tree and that's the time slow-motion happened after we stepped around the Banksia tree after Morgan,Evannah and Billie watered the Banksia tree.

My favourite part was going to take a photo but it was on slow-motion.
